Enabling Active Lives

Our purpose

WSYD Moving exists to enable active lives through movement, physical activity and sport.

Our mission

We lead, support and connect a Western Sydney system to improve population health creating the conditions to reduce inactivity and inequalities.

We’re activating change

WSYD Moving - a whole-of-system initiative to reduce inactivity and inequalities in Western Sydney.

In Western Sydney residents face disproportionately higher levels of chronic diseases compared to other parts of Australia. Physical activity is known to reduce the risk of developing many chronic diseases while improving overall health and well-being.

Physical inactivity is recognised by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) as a global public health concern.

WSYD Moving is tackling this global priority at a local level.

WSYD Moving launched in June 2022 through a virtual conference and continues as a bi-monthly Community of Practice.

In November 2023, Collective Leisure convened the inaugural symposium with a vision to foster cross-sector collaboration to support systems change in Western Sydney. 105 delegates attended, with representatives from cross-sector organisations attending.

All work on WSYD Moving by Collective Leisure - a socially conscious enterprise committed to reducing health inequalities within our communities - has been pro bono.
