WSYD Moving Symposium 2025

Accelerating Action: Tackling Inactivity and Inequity.

WSYD Moving is a whole of system initiative enabling active lives through movement, physical activity and sport. Building upon the success of the inaugural WSYD Moving Symposium held in 2023 and 2024, significant strides have been made. We’ve been progressing the movement generated by the actions from the last symposium.

Thursday 30th October
8:30am - 4:30pm

Western Sydney Conference Centre, Penrith

Let’s Move The System - Together

The WSYD Moving Symposium is Western Sydney’s leading event dedicated to a healthier Western Sydney Community.

Now in its third and biggest year, the 2025 Symposium will bring together 250+ leaders, advocates, and doers from across health, sport, education, planning, government, and community and beyond.

With the theme "Accelerating Action: Tackling Inactivity and Inequity", this year’s program is about momentum with systems already mobilising, the focus is now on scaling local solutions, replicating pockets of excellence, and embedding change

Who should attend?

  • Academia, education, public health, government, leisure, health, sport and recreation, peak bodies, not-for-profits, private enterprise, disability, aged care, and the social economy.

  • Representatives from the wider sport and physical activity system in Western Sydney.

  • Physical activity enthusiasts and anyone with an interest in reducing physical inactivity in Western Sydney.

  • Community leaders who want to support their communities to improve health and reduce physical inactivity.

Symposium inception

WSYD Moving was created by David Burns from Collective Leisure who will plan and coordinate the event. At the symposium WSYD Moving will be launched as its own entity - a Health Promotion Charity.

Collective Leisure is a certified social enterprise with a mission to reduce health inequity within our communities. This is summarised in their purpose statement of “enabling well-being without boundaries”.

A social enterprise is a ‘business for good’.
