Zhi Soon MP was elected was elected as the Federal Member for Banks in 2025. A lifelong South-West Sydney local, he brings extensive experience across law, diplomacy, education policy, behavioural economics and public service. Before entering Parliament, Zhi served as an Australian diplomat, was the youngest-ever appointee to the NSW Board of Studies, and held senior leadership roles in education and public policy.

He holds degrees in Law and Arts from the Australian National University and was recognised as the ACT Young Australian of the Year in 2008 for his contribution to the community.
