Laura Foley
Early Career Researcher and Research Assistant in the School of Population Health at UNSW, with research interests spanning physical activity participation, systems thinking, place-based whole-of-system approaches, and sport for positive youth development.
My work focuses on understanding and addressing complex public health challenges through collaborative and systems-oriented research, with experience in quantitative and qualitative methods, stakeholder engagement, and participatory methods. I am also a participant in the Systems Leadership Program with the Western Sydney Moving initiative, contributing to cross-sector collaboration and systems approaches to increasing physical activity participation.
I am the first author of the recently published paper, “Learnings from a Co-Production of an Evaluation Instrument in an Australian Sport for Positive Youth Development Program” (Foley et al., 2026), which explored the co-production of evaluation tools within community sport settings.
I am passionate about translating research into practice and contributing to innovative, evidence-informed approaches that support equitable participation in physical activity and positive outcomes for all ages.
